South Africa is a very beautiful place to live and settle with spectacular scenery, fascinating game reserves and a stunning coastline. Not only is it diverse geographically, but also culturally too as there are as many as 11 official languages in South Africa. However, most of the population speak English, although you may have difficulty understanding it at times because of the accent!
Around 50 million people live in South Africa, a country which is still divided by race. The population is made up of roughly 80 per cent blacks, 9 per cent whites and 9 per cent mixed race and the remainder an Indian population. But while whites enjoy a relatively high standard of living, most blacks live in poverty, although there are many very wealthy or middle class blacks in business.
If you are moving continents and require removals to South Africa, the most popular places to settle for expats are the most populated cities, Cape Town and Johannesburg. Pretoria and Durban are also attractive places to live.
The South African economy is one of the strongest in Africa, which emerged virtually unscathed by the global recession. As a whole expats enjoy a high standard of living and find it relatively easy to adjust to their new lifestyle. The country also benefits from good infrastructure, clean water in the cities, a world class health care system and there are good private schools.
