Packing Guide and Tips
Although moving home can be exciting, packing is something most of people dread. By using our guide, you will feel more secure knowing that your possessions will get to your new address in safety. Once there, you'll be able to find everything as you unpack and get settled.
Interior planning
As far as possible, have an idea of where you want to place your furniture in your new home. Knowing where you want your furniture ahead of time will save you a lot of work later on. If the removers have been instructed to leave it "just anywhere" you will have to move it again once decided.Before you start
Do yourself a favour and throw out all the accumulated junk that you know will never be of use! Collect packing materials early. Ask your friends to save you anything of use. Keep hold of that stack of newspapers too.Materials you will need
- Cartons: You will need many cartons in assorted sizes. All boxes should be in good condition and must .If you are moving with Greens we can loan cartons for the duration of the moving schedule. You may also start collecting cartons from your local grocery shop and off-licences. All too often grocery cartons have the tops removed, but if you program in advance, you may get cartons with covers. Wine cartons are excellent, as they are sturdy and contain covers and dividers, ideal to packing goblets, vases and glasses.
- Permanent Marker: This is for marking your packed cartons with such information as the contents of box and "Fragile", This side up etc.
- Wrapping Paper: You will need plenty of wrapping papers, so save old newspapers for packing and padding.
- Packing Tape: This should be plastic tape at least 4cm wide.
